Z Sound - How to use Speech Blubs to learn the Z [z] consonant

The S and Z sounds are often studied as a pair because they sound very similar, and both sounds are made in the same part of the mouth. There are some differences. The S sound is voiceless, and the Z sound is voiced. What does all of this mean and how to practice it using our app? Read this article to find out.

The Z sound develops at the age of 5 as a final or medial sound and later as an initial sound at the age of 7.

In this video, Rachel from Rachel's English will show you how to position your mouth to make each the Z sound.

After watching this video open our app, Speech Blubs, and practice the words that include the Z consonant in them. Download the app from the App Store App Store (https://apple.co/2UJcddR) or Google Play (https://bit.ly/2QyYTKX).

To practice making the Z consonant here is the list of sections and words in them that you can practice with your child:

  • Early Sounds: Bzzz.
  • Yummy Time: Pizza, Cheese.
  • Toy Box: Puppets, Bubbles, Marbles, Puzzles, Locomotives.
